One thing that we try to do in our house is instill a love of reading in our kids. Growing up, my favorite series was the Goosebumps series. Although I did not own every single book, I am pretty sure I have read each one at least once. They were not exactly Scholastic book fair worthy (also a favorite!), but they had me mesmorized. I especially loved the "choose your own ending" books. These days, I am into different romantic novels as well as biographies. My kids seem to be into something different each week, but so far, they enjoy stories that feature their favorite movie or television show characters like Shimmer and Shine or Thomas the tank engine. Reading before bed has become part of our routine and they love choosing which book to read each night. One issue we come across is having the bright overhead light on while I am trying to put them to bed or having my own bedroom light on while my husband is trying to get a good night's rest.
